Alcohol Use Disorder

Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is a medical condition in which drinking becomes difficult to control and begins to affect health, relationships, and daily functioning. Many people with AUD notice that they need more alcohol to feel the same effects, spend a lot of time drinking or recovering, or struggle to cut back even when they want to. You may experience sleep problems, mood changes, memory issues, and declining work or family performance. Physical signs can include tremors, high blood pressure, stomach discomfort, or repeated injuries related to alcohol use.

My treatment focuses on safety, support, and long‑term recovery. We will begin with a conversation about drinking patterns and any withdrawal risks. I will provide access to counseling, support groups, and prescribe medications that reduce cravings or help prevent relapse. Many patients benefit from a personalized plan that includes therapy, healthier coping strategies, and regular follow‑up. Recovery is possible, and seeking help is a strong first step.
